Torontonians

I’m disguised as human
I’m glamorized, I’m appetizing and I
Exercise my freedoms by wasting away
The seconds in the day
I’m immobilized by a crippling fear
Of locking eyes with the passerbys
I’m a walking game of ocular chicken
Where the loser’s a winner and the winner’s a chicken and
I’m succumbing to decay
It’s a romanticized delay
One thing I know for certain
As pure as the lakes, and as clear as a curtain
I see the worst in everyone
I’m from the cynical mimic generation
It’s a fabricated life
Of mechanized defenses and Mercedes Benzes
And fears of growing old
Of dying alone in the frigid cold and
I’m succumbing to decay
It’s a romanticized delay
And I wake up to the same day tomorrow, and I hide my sorrow as I bide my borrowed time.

Volcano
05:31
|
|||
There's a crater on the moon
in a Lunar mount surrounded by dunes
Dormant for a thousand years
Empty, flooded by weightless fears
There was a girl who wandered by
Who saw a lacking in the mountain's eye
And so she sauntered up the mountainside
Without a thought she hurled herself inside
Ignitions gurgled underground
Molten fluid formed, made it's way down the mound
gravity defied, it pushed off the lunar face
And diffused into outer space
The Lava broadcast past the stars,
Spewing from the crater's reservoir,
Increased in volume and irreversible
Wasn't long before the universe full.
V-o-l-c-a-n-oh yeah.

Better Off
04:45
|
|||
The sky isn’t falling
But the clouds have gained weight
Not that they’ve ever dropped before
We’ll just assume that’s their fate
We can all stay intact and bury the light and inherit the ashes of the oncoming night
And doom is a trope
While malaise a mope
I posit we’ve got less to fear
From tomorrow than by former years
We can all stay intact and bury the light and inherit the ashes of the oncoming night
When the sky turns to gray
and when the sun dims away
When the mounts erupt and the ground’s corrupt
You’ll be glad it fell through

Breaking it Away
04:31
|
|||
I’m fairly sure there ain’t no cure for my banality
Take my word that it’s absurd: My mentality
But I’m breaking it away
It’s implied: to be derived of depth and substance
While criticizing, we're idealizing this vapid romance
But I’m breaking it away
Being sardonic, it’s so ironic, preserving weakness
We can’t ignore where we wanted more there’s only bleakness
But I’m breaking it away

Underfoot
06:11
|
|||
Your skin is thinner than
The ice beneath my feet
And I’m cracking right through both
This fire’s obsolete
In time You’ll realize
The weight of what we idealize
Inevitable I know
And so it goes
We’re all old
Buried, cold
Oversold
There’s not a soul on this orb
Who’s less eject than absorb
Who’s more direct than abstract
Who sees the whole beaten path
We’re all old
Buried, cold
Oversold
Your skin is thinner than
The ice beneath my feet
And I’m cracking right through both
This fire’s obsolete

Jessie's Girl
02:50
|
|||
Jessie is a friend
He’s always been a good friend of mine
Lately something’s changed and it ain’t hard to define
Jessie’s got himself a girl and I wanna make her mine
I play along with the charade
There doesn’t seem to be a reason to change
You know I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably mute
And he’s watching her with those eyes
And he’s loving her with that body, I just know it
And he’s holding her in his arms late late at night
I wish I had
Jessie's Girl

Glass
05:49
|
|||
I'm a pair of broken blackened glasses
Guarding dull eyes, darkened deadened sight
I peer you up and down in shattered view
refracted pictures in each shard pure
I'm a bottle, filled with milk past due
Pristine contour, but contents curdled through
I says to you don't pour me out, please listen first
knock me back, I'll satisfy your thirst
I could melt down and then solidify
Be your container, you'll be my lye
Erode me down and eat me away
When I'm gone you'll be liquid castaway
I'm a window ten feet from the floor
Unsupported, just a window, nothing more
Inside the glasses and bottle made a home
While the window kept the sunlight for his own
